Data Protection Officer
Under Article 37 of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), the requirement to appoint a DPO is outlined. Many organizations have realized that due to conflict of interests, they may be better to appoint an outside DPO than to make the Chief Privacy Officer or some other internal staff member, wear that hat.

As your data systems change, your HR policies and procedures or indeed the direction of your business, your DPO should be that objective perspective to point out business risks and help manage your Privacy and Security Programs.
